Riverdale Local School Board of Education Meeting

It is recommended that the Board approve the following resolution as presented

RESOLUTION ADOPTING SERS PICKUP PLAN

            WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 414(h)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code, the Riverdale Local School District Board of Education (“Board”) is permitted to pick up mandatory employee retirement contributions to the School Employees’ Retirement System of Ohio (“SERS”); and

            WHEREAS, the Board desires to pick up the mandatory retirement contributions of all classified, non-teaching, non-administrative employees.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, effective March 19, 2025, the Board shall designate and “pick up” the total amount of employee contributions required to be made to the SERS, to be contributed by all such classified employees of the Board (i.e., all non-teaching, non-administrative employees).

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, these picked-up contributions, although designated as employee contributions, are being paid by the Board in lieu of employee contributions and shall be treated as mandatory salary reduction from the contract salary otherwise payable to the employee.
